“We didn’t make a lot of changes to the house, but what we did will make huge changes in the way we live in the house,” they said. The new ground floor area includes an open-plan kitchen and dining area adjacent to the garden, while various utility rooms and a garage area are located in the existing building. Polished concrete forms the continuation of the floor, imperceptibly moving into the garden terrace, providing visual continuity between the interior and the exterior of the house.

Worktops are also made from the same material, and a huge table on castors can be located either in the center of the room or moved to the terrace. As conceived by the architects, this makes the mansion "the perfect home for a barbecue." The narrow office is located above the kitchen, on the level of the first floor of the existing house. Above, one of the two bedrooms of the upper floor has access to an internal balcony, which lets in the kitchen space. The architects also did some work in the existing house, having repaired and transformed two bathrooms placed between the bedrooms. The free-standing bath is now directly on the floor, while the shower is located separately. According to the architects, the historical facade of this street, forever left its “bourgeois shine”, but this did not upset any of the owners of the house, but only pleased.

A pair of glass doors weighing almost four tons and a height of six meters with access to the garden was installed in a mansion in Antwerp. The installation of double double-decker doors was undertaken by the Belgian studio Sculp IT, immediately positioning them as “the world's largest revolving window”. Lalo giant window
The doors essentially form the back wall at the extension of the house, connecting the new kitchen and dining room to the garden in the courtyard. Previously, the house had no access to the garden. Ambitious architects Peter Peerlings (Pieter Peerlings) and Silvia Mertens removed steel doors to create

French windows were made separately to order. The supplier of windows was the Swiss manufacturer Jansen, as well as the bespoke design from the distributor ODS Jansen. Equipped with insulated glass, each of the giant doors opens from the center, and the panels are not located on the traditional core. The simple, modern glass back has the largest rotating window in the world - three meters wide, six meters high, which makes this house ready for the future, ”said Pairings and Mertens, who also claim the construction of the narrowest house in the Netherlands and the largest in the world of swimming pool.

We design glass facades of various types and shapes while choosing the optimal glass thickness for a specific project and, accordingly, a certain type of aluminum profiles and fastening systems. Thus it is possible to achieve the most effective solution from both an economic point of view and a design one. The fastening systems that we use include structural, rack-mount and spider systems, as well as frameless glazing. In addition, we have the baggage of our own developments, which can be fully considered exclusive, because they combine several types of fastening at the same time. An example of such solutions are modular ventilated facades, the design, and installation of which is quite a time-consuming process, but the result often exceeds all expectations.

Design of glass facades

Everyone knows that the facade is not just the “face of the building”, it is also a very important functional element of any modern building. Even in the old days, people paid special attention to the exterior decoration of the building, the time has changed, technology also, but in general it can be said that this trend is still relevant today. Actually, therefore, the design of glass facades is an important part of the project of the entire building. Thanks to CAD, it became possible to determine the number of metal profiles and, at the same time, set the parameters necessary for a particular object. Thus, the process of direct design has already been launched during picking. This has a positive effect on the time of work, and, consequently, on the cost. The main package of technical documentation is often created on the basis of the measurements already taken and can be supplemented and partially changed in parallel with the progress of the project. Designing glass facades is a creative process, therefore, in the course of the meeting, all architectural and aesthetic wishes of the building owner are taken into account, including graphic sketches, photographs from the Internet, and even freehand sketches ... In general, everything that can help achieve the desired result and make a dialogue between the customer and performer as constructive as possible. Upon completion of the design work, all issues are carefully worked out and agreed with the customer and subsequently can no longer be changed, with the exception, perhaps, of force majeure situations. Here is a sample list of requirements for a glass facade, which should be paid attention to at the design stage
